Treasure In The Sewing Basket
We were asked to appraise a coin collection of Whitman blue books, Morgan dollars, Peace dollars, Proof Sets and Paper Currency. Before finishing the inventory of the collection we asked if there was any place else that there might be some coins hidden. After some brainstorming we found a couple coins in her sewing basket. One coin in particular was a 1854-D $3 Gold Princess which were minted in Georgia prior to the civil war. The total mintage was actually less than 1,000. When the coin came back from PCGS we valued it at $13,000. The client paid off her mortgage that month. Can John Frank Rare Coins help you find what your old coins are really worth?
Peter, Paul and Mary – A 3 Way Split
Upon their grandfathers death a large coin collection of Silver Dollars, Indian Cents, Silver Dimes, Halves and Quarters were to be split three ways to Peter, Paul and Mary. They called authorized appraiser John Frank Rare Coins to help determine the value since they didn’t want to sell any. After a house call to inventory the collection it was separated into three equal values. What are your old coins really worth today? Can John Frank Rare Coins help you?
Silver Dollars At Their Wedding
When Jim and Sally received 40 Silver Dollars from their grandfather as a wedding gift they were happy. Since they wanted to buy a house they wondered what the value of these dollars was. 39 Of the dollars were Morgan silver dollars and had a small market value from their silver. The 40th coin was a 1893 Carson City “CC” Dollar minted in Carson City Nevada. John Frank Rare Coins sent it to have it certified, it came back as an XF-40. Due to its rarity and high value they sold the coin and were able to use the proceeds for the down payment of their new home. John Frank Rare Coins can help you with your rare coins and help you maximize their full potential.
Have You Inherited A Coin Collection?
Albert recently received a gold coin collection as inheritance. His older brother Samuel was the collector, after training at Michigan Tech he moved to Colorado to work with gold miners. After 30 years of collecting he passed bestowing his gold coin collection to his brother Albert. John Frank Rare Coins determined some of the gold coins were average market value. Others were determined to have great potential to increase in value. They were then sent to PCGS to be professionally graded. When they came back it was determined they were worth much more than the gold value. Have you inherited a coin collection? What are they really worth?
